AYANEO has announced new Android handhelds for retro fans
AYANEO Pocket Air Mini IGS

AYANEO has announced the Pocket Air Mini IGS alongside another new handheld that are both catering to fans of retro games. Powered by Android, the Pocket Air Mini IGS and the KONKR Pocket Block are designed to look and feel like a retro game console. The Pocket Mini IGS doesn’t look much different from the other devices in the same lineup, though it does come with a few tweaks and a unique colorway.

The KONKR Pocket Block gives off some old school Game Boy vibes with a smaller display, fewer buttons, and a significantly more compact design that you can actually fit in your pocket more comfortably. AYANEO hasn’t announced pricing for the KONKR Pocket Block nor has it announced an official release date. Furthermore, it was pretty light on mentioning specs or other hardware features. However, it does lay out everything you need to know about the Pocket Mini IGS.

The AYANEO Pocket Mini IGS will start at $129.99

AYANEO has confirmed that the pre-orders for the Pocket Mini IGS will begin today and prices for it start at $129.99. For that price you’re getting a handheld that comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There will also be a model with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that will go for $139.99. It’s worth noting that this is a limited-edition handheld so it could very well out quickly.

At current component prices, it’s not surprising that AYANEO is choosing to focus on hardware that doesn’t require a whole lot of powerful components right now. The company has even confirmed that some of its handhelds would be stopping production before a full release due to the rising costs that made things unsustainable. At $140 or less, the Pocket Mini IGS seems like a pretty reasonable option for people who love retro games.

As for hardware, the handheld comes powered by a 2x Cortex-A76 chip with a 6x Cortex-A55 chip and a Mali-G76 MP4 GPU for graphics and processing. It also has a 4.2-inch 1,280 x 960 90Hz display, and active cooling with an internal fan. There are several buttons on the face as well as bumpers and triggers, dual joysticks, and more. It’s also worth noting that the triggers and joysticks use Hall Effect sensors.
