Gateron Launches Magnetic Jade Silent Switch for HE and TMR Gaming Keyboards
It's safe to say that the variety of magnetic switches for Hall effect and TMR gaming keyboards has grown in recent months, with Gateron's recent perfectly linear switch, and Keychron going so far as to release tactile magnetic switches. Gateron's latest magnetic switch, however, is a more traditional linear design, but this time with silent bottom- and top-outs. The Gateron Magnetic Jade Silent switch takes a lot of what makes Gateron's Jade series of switches so desirable and removes any auditory feedback to provide an option for gamers or office workers who don't want to disturb those around them. Gateron Magnetic Jade Silent switches are available as a set of 70 for $56 or 90 for $72 from Gateron's online store. The Magnetic Jade Silent switch is a n-pole magnetic switch, meaning it should be compatible with most magnetic keyboards that support switches like the Gateron Magnetic Jade Gaming, Gravastar UFO, and TTC KOM switches, for example.

The Gateron Magnetic Jade Silent switch has a 33 gf starting force and 45 gf bottom-out force, with a total travel distance of 3.2 mm (±0.2 mm). The switch has the same closed-bottom design as the regular Jade Pro and Gaming switches, but it shakes up the design with a circular stem. Keystrokes are silenced by two silicone or rubber rings mounted to the sides of the stem—a fairly traditional silent switch design—and Gateron claims that the switch has been optimized for low wobble. The Jade Silent switch has a POM stem and top housing, but the bottom housing is unspecified, although POM or nylon are likely candidates. There is also a removable LED diffuser for translucent and shine-through keycaps.
