Blood donation can be a daunting experience for some but the Galaxy XR headset may be the answer to subduing those fears. While not everyone has a problem with donating blood, some most certainly find it uncomfortable despite wanting to do some good and help out by completing the process. That’s where Samsung’s use of the Galaxy XR headset comes in.

Samsung has been experimenting with using Galaxy XR headsets for patients during the blood donation process. If that seems odd, just imagine the possibilities of how it could help you take your mind off things. That’s the true benefit of what Samsung is doing here. Helping those who donate focus on something other than the fact that there’s a needle in their arm. Making it more comfortable to go through with donating blood.

Samsung says it set employees up with Galaxy XR headsets and immersive meditation content during blood donation

You’re probably wondering how Samsung might be able to help you forget about the fact that you’re donating blood. It’s a simple process really. Immersive content is the key, it seems. On June 2, Samsung says that it partnered with healthcare company Abbot and the Korean Red Cross to conduct these tests.

Samsung employees reportedly donated blood while wearing a Galaxy XR headset, and immersive meditation content was playing on the headset to help those donating keep more calm. Samsung says that Red Cross personnel were on site during the whole thing to help if needed. Those these were just tests for now, Samsung says that it’s continuing to scale these experiences. It’ll start with bringing the experience to attendees of Augmented World Expo later this month.

Following this, it’ll showcase the technology and experiences at the International Society of Blood Transfusion in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. From there, Samsung hopes to expand these experiences further to more healthcare professionals and blood banks.
